She is home

Sorry I havent updated- things have been so crazy ! Kayden came home on Friday. We were concerned because she didnt seem to be acting like herself and really wanted her to stay one more night. but we didnt win that battle. She seems to be really fussy and moaning, crying that sounds like a baby dinosaur. Not her usual happy self. Robert had her friday night and I go her first thing saturday. Well, Rob only got to sleep for a couple of hours before I woke him. Kayden had her first blow out and it was everywhere ! He took her in the shower with him and cleaned it up. Little did we know that wouldnt be the only one and she seemed to have one every few hours ! Concerned we called the heart doctor (doesnt everyone call a heart doctor when their baby is pooping?). He said we could try and feed through it or take her to the hospital for an IV so she would not get dehidrated. They seemed to taper off on sunday and monday but she had a dooser on monday ! Without being graphic let me just say it was everywhere. Cailin commented that the surgery has changed her. Her personality is just not her. She still refuses to smile for Robert. She also seems pretty flushed. She has two holes just under her incision that the drainage tubes were in. they dont close them up so they can heal from the inside out. totally gross and I have to change the band aid daily. I was concerned that maybe one of them got infected, but Robert downt think so. she is still fussy today. I am having problems putting her down. So I have to keep this short.

Yesterday, my friend melissa picked up Caitlin and took her to the movie "Hotel for dogs" then too her back to her house and play. they made a menu and went grocery shopping and showed up with lasgna, garlic bread, and cupcakes. Caitlin had a great time and said it was her best day ever !

hey mara,

just thought i'd share our experience of henry when he got home...we didn't experience the pooping thing thank God, but little henry was definately not himself. the first week was really rough. he was very uncomfortable and seemed to be in pain a lot. we ended up getting a pain medication from his cardiologist because all we were originally told to give him was tylenol.

after about a week or so he was feeling better. we only had to give him the pain medicine a couple days and then tylenol here and there. but what was the hardest part about him afterwards- he was sooooooooooooo clingy. he was definately not himself. he refused to go to justin, he was not his smiley/bubbly self and i could not be out of his sight. this went on for what seemed like forever...but it was probably just a month maybe. and throughout that month he did get better and better.

but i just remembered that i got 0% relief because he just wanted to be held and only by me. if you think about it, it has to be prety tramatizing for our little ones. i can't say that i blame them. but i did want to pull my hair out as well. after awhile he got much better and now he is back to his old self.

well i should say his new and improved self. he is dramatically more active, stronger, happier, energized...he has the same personality just stronger if that makes sense. so just hang in there. kayden just needs some time to recover. heart surgery isn't a minor thing as you know and she has no idea what is going on, just that she hurts. wanted to add- you're a good mom, don't forget that
